symmetrical bilateral thinning of the parietal bones
there is no intracranial bleeding
no midline shift
age-related prominent ventricular system and CSF spaces
no bone fractures
ill-defined mass within the left superior cerebellar hemisphere with cystic changes and peripheral calcifications, that need further assessment by MRI
changes of right mastoidectomy
Case Discussion
Typical features of bilateral thinning of the parietal bones in an elderly patient. The evolution of this osteodystrophy is slow and progressive and may lead in severe cases to direct exposure of the brain to subcutaneous tissue and atmospheric pressure.
