Ultrasound (8-hour fasting) reveals:
a non-dysmorphic, homogeneous liver
triangular cord sign (4 mm)
dilatation of the hepatic artery with a hepatic artery/portal vein ratio of 0.56
scleroatrophic gallbladder with irregular contours
normal spleen
no ascites
Case Discussion
This is a typical illustration of biliary atresia on ultrasound: a sclero-atrophic gallbladder, triangular cord sign, and an increased HA/PV ratio (>0.45).
