Presentation

History of trauma at level of base of proximal phalanx of index finger. Incidental finding at scaphoid bone.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

An oblique complete intra-articular avulsion fracture at the base of the proximal phalanx of index finger.

A note is made of a well-corticated bony fragment at line of scaphoid bone axis (bipartite scaphoid bone).

Case Discussion

History of trauma at the level of base of proximal phalanx of index finger (the site of patient complaint).

Incidental finding of a bipartite scaphoid bone noted as two bony fragments (the site of interest with no tenderness).
