Presentation

Painless, palpable, right breast lump. No previous mammogram or breast ultrasound on record.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female
mammography

A mixed-density, circumscribed, mass, containing fat and fibroglandular tissue with a thin-walled, smooth capsule is present within the right breast. There is the typical 'breast within a breast' appearance.

ultrasound

A well-circumscribed, solid, mixed echogenic, lesion within the right breast, upper, outer quadrant at 9 0'clock axis is identified. There are no associated microcalcifications.

Ultrasound is otherwise unremarkable.

mammography

A limited MLO view demonstrates a suitably sited radio-opaque breast tissue marker post-ultrasound-guided core biopsy.

A histopathologically proven right breast hamartoma with typical mammographic and sonographic findings with a normal mammogram otherwise.
