Incidental finding, there is incomplete fusion of the lateral halves of the T8 vertebral body.
Case Discussion
The butterfly vertebra is a congenital malformation, characterized by the lack of fusion of the lateral nuclei of the developing vertebra. It can be associated with other congenital disorders. It is usually asymptomatic and detected incidentally, as in this case.
