Presentation

History of cardiac disease and chest pain.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Aortic valve prosthesis in appropriate position.

Mild diffuse prominence of the cardiac silhouette.  No significant central pulmonary vascular congestion.

No discrete focal pneumonic consolidation, effusion or pneumothorax.

Case Discussion

Caged ball valve prothesis as shown in our case is used to treat aortic stenosis 1. There is no influence of age on the morbidity and mortality of the device, making it a reliably safe treatment for the elderly 2.
