Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Headache and vertigo.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Male
ct

Axial, reconstructed coronal and sagittal CT scan showing a fairly large hyperdense (1902 HU) lesion having a broad base, obtuse angle, and plano-convex shape abutting the falx cerebri located at the superior convexity just beneath the skull on the left lateral side from the midline (parasagittal). Hypodensities are noted surrounding the lesion indicating edema. The frontal horn of the left lateral ventricle is mildly compressed due to mass effect.

Some streak artifacts are seen.

Extraventricular CSF spaces are mildly dilated.

Case Discussion

The patient came with the complaints of headache. No limb weakness was found on examination. The broad-based, extra-axial calcified mass lesion with mild perilesional edema was noted on CT. Streak artifact were noted emanating from the calcified mass, likely on the basis of its high density. The superior convexity and parasagittal location are also the most common locations of meningioma.
