ultrasound

Left inguinal defect is seen with connection to the peritoneal cavity. The transmitted hernia sac contains ovary that shows multiple small follicles with intact vascular supply at the examination time.

Case Discussion

Hernias of canal of Nuck are rare and occur in female children, clinically present as an inguinal mass. The direct continuation with peritoneal cavity is diagnostic on ultrasound and may contain ovary, bladder, omentum or bowel loops.

The ovary should be differentiated from others by shape, follicles and vascular pedicle.
