Cystic dilatation of the entire extrahepatic duct with smooth dilatation of the intrahepatic ducts, predominantly the left hepatic duct in keeping with choledochal cyst - type I.

Case Discussion

Biliary cyst also known as choledochal cyst is a rare congenital abnormality characterized by extrahepatic and/or intrahepatic cystic dilatation of the biliary tree. The most common subtype is type I which is cystic dilatation of the extrahepatic duct, mainly the common bile duct. It can be complicated by stone formation, cholangiocarcinoma, cystic rupture with bile peritonitis and pancreatitis.
