Presentation
Abdominal pain
Patient Data
Fusiform dilatation of the proximal and mid-segment of the common bile duct, also likely involving the common hepatic duct, is observed. The overall size is approximately 21 x 28 x 24 mm (AP x TD x CC). No significant intrahepatic biliary radical dilatation is seen.
The gallbladder is partially distended. No evidence of any calculus is noted in the gallbladder lumen.
The cystic duct is likely draining into a superolateral aspect of the above-mentioned fusiform dilated common bile duct.
An anomalous high confluence of the common bile duct (CBD) and main pancreatic duct is seen with a common channel, measuring approximately 11.5 mm, draining into the major duodenal papilla.
Case Discussion
Overall, the above findings suggest the likelihood of a choledochal cyst, possibly type IB.
