Presentation
Right-sided body weakness with slurred speech for a few months. No history of unconsciousness is present.
Patient Data
There is an ill-defined encephalomalacic/CSF density area that involves the grey-white matter (with loss of their differentiation) of the left temporoparietal region and ex vacuo dilatation of the left lateral ventricle, suggestive of chronic infarction due to the most likely previous ischemic insult. No definite intra-axial bleed is seen.
No definite mid-line shift is appreciated. The posterior fossa appears unremarkable.
Case Discussion
The clinical presentation and the CT findings are of left-sided chronic infarction in the territory of the left middle cerebral artery.
