Complete opacification of left frontal sinus by retained secretions. The left frontal bone shows irregular cortical and medullary lytic changes with intradiploic sequestrated bone fragments. Mild scalp thickening at the left frontal region. No intracranial extension on non-contrast basis.
Mild retained secretions in both maxillary sinuses.
Bilateral staphyloma.
Case Discussion
Features are in keeping with chronic osteomyelitis involving left frontal bone secondary to chronic left frontal sinusitis. The skull is a rare site for osteomyelitis accounting for less than 2% of cases.
