Presentation
Pulsatile painless swelling in the left parietal region.
Patient Data
Extensive multiple, tortuous dilated vessels are seen within the scalp mainly in the left parietal region fed by branches from the ipsilateral external carotid artery and multiple dilated draining extracranial veins.
No calvarial bony defect. No intracranial extension, or communication seen.
Cerebral parenchyma appears normal.
Case Discussion
Cirsoid aneurysms are rare arteriovenous malformations of the scalp which commonly occur due to arteriovenous shunts, within the scalp, between the external carotid artery and the scalp veins
The superficial temporal artery is the vessel most involved, while the occipital artery is less frequently.
