Presentation

Clinically palpable right thyroid nodule. For sonographic review and work-up.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Male

An enlarged, cystic, right colloid nodule measuring 36.4 x 22.4 x 27.0 mm is identified.

There is a complex appearance suggesting a combination of necrosis, hemorrhage and calcifications.

Cine loop

The cine loop demonstrates the cystic colloid nodule with hemorrhage and necrosis. There are associated calcifications giving rise to the comet tail artefact.
