Presentation
Chronic pain at the medial aspect of the elbow joint and tingling in her fingers.
Patient Data
Swollen and edematous ulnar nerve in the cubital fossa.
A bone spur from the posteromedial aspect of the olecranon is seen protruding into the cubital tunnel.
As noted on T1 weighted image, the ulnar nerve is swollen and edematous within the cubital tunnel .
A small osseous spur is seen protruding from the posteromedial aspect of the olecranon process entrapping the ulnar nerve in the cubital tunnel.
The ulnar nerve displays high SI on STIR image as it passes within the cubital tunnel.
Case Discussion
MRI plays an important role in cases with clinically suspected cubital tunnel syndrome as it confirms the diagnosis and can detect the cause of ulnar nerve entrapment.
