De Quervain tenosynovitis

Presentation

Circumscribed pain and sensitivity around the radial aspect of the left radial styloid process.

Patient Data

Age: 65 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

The extensor pollicis brevis and abductor pollicis longus tendons show marked focal thickening with associated hypoechogenicity due to edema. Spindle-shaped peritenon thickening is best appreciated in long axis view of the tendons. Striking hypervascularity is also noted. The contralateral tendons are unremarkable and are shown for comparison. 

x-ray

Plain film unremarkable for age.
