Case Discussion
Dermatomyositis and polymyositis are two common autoimmune myopathies. MRI characteristics of juvenile dermatomyositis include muscle edema, perimascular edema, facial signal change, reticulated areas of increased and decreased signal changes in the subcutaneous fat.
Edema exists in the early stage of myositis while fatty infiltration and muscle atrophy occur in late stages of myositis.
