Presentation

Free past medical history, referred to rule out DDH by pediatrician.

Patient Data

Age: 4 months
Gender: Female

Both hip joints

ultrasound

The left hip joint shows a severely deficient bony acetabular roof with an almost flat bony rim.

The alpha angle is 36 degrees.

The femoral head is decentered.

These findings are in keeping with left-sided developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).

Normal alpha angle of the right hip.

Case Discussion

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is manifested by the severely deficient bony acetabular roof with almost flat bony rim along with decline in the alpha angle (below 60 degrees).

These findings are in keeping with left-sided developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH).
