Case contributed by Ammar Haouimi
Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Locking right knee.

Patient Data

Age: 7 years
Gender: Female

The MRI sequences demonstrate an abnormal body width of the lateral meniscus (= 25 mm) on coronal sequences, which is visible in more than three images on sagittal sequences. An anterior parameniscal cyst is noted, protruding into Hoffa's fat pad with an abnormal horizontal intrinsic high signal on PD fat saturation and T2WI (meniscal tear).

The medial meniscus appears normal.

Case Discussion

MRI features of a discoid lateral meniscus with anterior parameniscal cyst arising from a horizontal meniscal tear of the anterior horn of the discoid lateral meniscus.
