Pancreatic head mass with dilated biliary tree, dilated pancreatic duct and mild atrophy of the neck, body and tail of the pancreas. Multiple small low density liver lesions likely represent metastases.
Case Discussion
The double duct sign refers to simultaneous dilation of the pancreatic and bile ducts due to an obstructing lesion either in the head of the pancreas or at the ampulla of Vater. Pancreatic cancer, as in this case, is a common cause. The ductal dilation is often more striking than the cancer itself.
