Presentation

Young female with clinical history of cervical cancer. Incidental finding.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

CECT (contrast-enhanced computed tomography) of the abdomen shows the presence of two IVCs on either side of the aorta. The left IVC is larger than the right IVC.

Case Discussion

Duplicated IVC is a congenital abnormality resulting from the persistence of both supracardinal veins. It occurs in 0.2-0.5% of the population.

Normally the left IVC is smaller than the right but as seen in this case, the left IVC is bigger than the right.
