Dysphagia and foreign body sensation in throat

Patient Data

Age: 50 years

Non-contrast CT scan of the neck in soft tissue and bone window shows grossly elongated styloid processes on both sides. The right styloid process measures about 6.3 cm and the left styloid process measures about 6.1 cm. Inferiorly the styloid processes are extending and invading into the lateral wall of the lower part of the oropharynx.

Case Discussion

Eagle's syndrome is defined as symptomatic elongation of the ossified styloid process. Elongated styloid processes associated with symptoms confirm the diagnosis in this case.
