Enlarged adenoid and tonsil

There is soft tissue opacity noted in the roof of nasopharynx causing severe obliteration of the nasopharyngeal air column, in keeping with adenoid hypertrophy.
There is prominent soft tissue opacity noted postero-inferior to the soft palate, in keeping with palatine tonsils enlargement.
Case Discussion
Adenoidal hypertrophy was first described by the Danish physician Wilhelm Meyer (1824-1895) in Copenhagen in 1868.
Adenoids can be seen from age 3 months onwards and involutes from 14 - 15 years.
For non complicated tonsillar enlargement, usually no imaging is required, since tonsils are well seen by clinical examination.
