Presentation
Complaining of left parotid region swelling for the last 10 to 12 years. No local pain.
Patient Data
There is a thin-walled cyst in the left parotid region measuring about 30 x 28 x 20 mm. It is superficial to the superficial lobe of the left parotid gland. It shows a heterogeneous echopattern, acoustic enhancement, mild compressibility without vascularity. There is no leak from the cyst. Superficial lobes of both parotid glands and both submandibular glands reveal normal echopattern. The rest of the neck ultrasound was normal.
Case Discussion
An elderly patient presented with a long history of painless swelling in the left parotid region. Ultrasound favors epidermal inclusion cyst. Surgery revealed the unruptured cyst separate from the parotid gland. Histopathology diagnosis was epidermal inclusion cyst.
A companion case: rID: 83774 shows a ruptured epidermal inclusion cyst of the parotid region.
