Case Discussion

It is uncommon for extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) to present as a presacral mass. Typically, EMH is found in other organs such as the liver, spleen, and lymph nodes.

While EMH is generally considered a benign condition, its presentation as a mass can mimic other more serious conditions, such as malignancy or infection. Therefore, it is important to carefully evaluate any mass-like lesions found in the vertebral and paravertebral regions to determine if they may be related to EMH.
