Case Discussion

Pincer impingement refers to an acetabular-based disorder, usually in active middle-aged women.

It occurs if the acetabular bone/labrum overhang is too broad, mainly at the anterosuperior quadrant.

The most common symptoms of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) include:

  • pain

  • stiffness

  • limping

Pain often occurs in the groin area, although it may occur towards the outside of the hip. Turning, twisting, and squatting may cause sharp, stabbing pain. Sometimes, the pain is just a dull ache.
