Case Discussion

A case of a "lost" urethral sound. Urethral sounding is a usual medical practice to dilate or stretch the urethra in cases of urethral strictures or to remove urethral foreign bodies.

In a non-medical context, urethral sounding is the practice of inserting an object into the urethra for sexual gratification.

In this instance, it was a silicone sound, approximately 200mm in length and 7-8mm in diameter.

The device was removed during cystoscopy.
