Presentation

Sudden onset of left hemiplegia with right-sided diplopia in a diabetic and hypertensive patient.

Patient Data

Age: 75 years
Gender: Female
mri

Well-defined area of high T2 and FLAIR signal with restricted diffusion involving the right inferior medial aspect of the pons with no hemorrhagic component seen on GE sequence.

Cerebral volume loss with small vessel ischemic change.

Case Discussion

MRI features of infarction involving the medial inferior aspect of the pons, known as Inferior medial pontine syndrome or Foville syndrome. Usually due to occlusion of the paramedian branches of the basilar artery.
