Diffuse wall-thickening of the gallbladder is noted with multiple small intramural diverticula. No discrete stones are identified in this examination. There is no dilatation of intra or extrahepatic biliary channels.

Case Discussion

The findings suggest gallbladder adenomyomatosis. Adenomyomatosis of the gallbladder refers to a condition characterized by hyperplastic changes in the gallbladder wall. It is a benign condition that can cause diffuse or focal thickening of the gallbladder wall. Additional findings on MRI can be fluid-filled intramural diverticula/cysts (as in current case).
