Presentation

History of surgery for a pelvic mass. Present complaints of abdominal pain for a few days after surgery.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Female

There is a sharply defined, rounded mass lesion in the left hemi-pelvis. It has, a peripheral, thin enhancing wall with internal gas foci and curvilinear hyperdense/metallic structure along with significant streak artefact.

This lesion is abutting the uterus.

The rest of the visualized viscera are within normal limits.

Case Discussion

The patient presentation with a recent history of abdominal surgery and the CT findings are most likely suggestive of a gossypiboma as detailed above.
