Patient with Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. Gait disturbance. Pre-operative x-ray for orthopedic surgery.

Teleradiography of the pelvis, thighs and legs shows asymmetric bone and soft tissues overgrowth in the left lower limb. 

Case Discussion

Hemihyperplasia, also known as hemihypertrophy, is clinically defined as asymmetric growth due to the overgrowth of one or more body parts. It is associated with many syndromes, such as Beckwith-Wiedemann, Proteus, Russell-Silver and Sotos. 

In this case, the patient had Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome
