Hepatic hydatid cyst

Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Female

Giant hydatid cyst contains several daughter cysts measuring about 6 x 18 x 22 cm occupying almost the entire left liver lobe with an exophytic downward extracapsular intraabdominal extension. 

A 35 x 40 mm well-defined lesion with a central linear high T2 signal in segment VIII of the liver. The lesion shows isointense enhancement to the liver with central components hyperenhancement in the delayed phase. Features on MRI are suggestive of focal nodular hyperplasia.
