Presentation

Right upper quadrant pain with a hepatic mass of complex echotexture on ultrasound.

Patient Data

Age: 60 years
Gender: Female

Dysmorphic liver with atrophied segment 5. Well defined ovoid cystic lesion located in segment 5 of low signal on T1, high signal on T2 and T2 fat sat containing serpigenous linear structures of the membranes within the mass.

The previously described cystic lesion in segment 5 of the liver shows a mixed hypoechoic and hyperechoic matrix, resembling a ball of wool (ball of wool sign) with no daughter cysts.
