ultrasound

There is evidence of a diverticulum at the site of right vesicoureteric junction with distal ureteric dilation. The urine jet on color Doppler confirms the communication between the ureter and the abovementioned diverticulum.

No residual urine was seen in the diverticulum on the post-void image.

Features are representing unilateral right-sided Hutch diverticulum.

Case Discussion

Hutch diverticulum is a special type of bladder diverticulum, it arises at the site of the vesicoureteric junction or paraureteral site. It is highly associated with vesicoureteral reflux and can be managed by diverticulectomy if indicated.
