Presentation
Shortness of breath and cough.
Patient Data
A large partially circumscribed, fluid density peripherally enhancing mass lesion is noted involving almost whole of left lung with relative sparing of posterior basal segment.
No definite midline shift is noted.
Collapsed left upper lobe is noted.
A patch of consolidation with air bronchogram is noted in posterior basal segment of left lower lobe.
Mild left sided pleural effusion is noted.
Rest of the visualized viscera appears unremarkable.
Case Discussion
CT features are most likely suggestive of left-sided pulmonary hydatid cyst with superimposed acute infective/inflammatory disease process.
