M1 and M2 segments of the left MCA are hyperdense.

Triangular hypodense areas are seen in the left lentiform nucleus, external capsule and insular cortex resulting in loss of gray white differentiation.

Case Discussion

Hyperdense MCA sign refers to intraluminal thromboembolic material within the middle cerebral artery. It is the earliest visible sign of an MCA infarction.

Sometimes, atherosclerosis, polycythemia, or hemoconcentration may mimic this condition.
