Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female
x-ray

Four needles in the stomach.

One needle in the oropharynx.

Case Discussion

The patient was said to have ingested 5 foreign bodies, thought to be needles.

Only 4 were identified in the stomach. None were observed in the thorax.

The very generously coned chest radiograph shows the 5th needle, which was then confirmed on the lateral soft tissue neck radiograph to lie in the oropharynx.
