Circumferential T1 hyperintensity is seen as the right internal carotid artery passes along the superior surface of the foramen lacerum but does not traverse it.
Case Discussion
Internal carotid artery (ICA) dissection, like arterial dissection elsewhere, is a result of blood entering the media through a tear in the intima and is a common cause of stroke in younger patients.
High signal crescent sign indicating intramural hematoma is seen on T1, T2 and DWI images.
