There is a region of the lung in the right lower lobe with systemic arterial vascular supply that has pulmonary venous drainage. No pleural covering is noted. There is subtle atelectasis within this region of lung.

Case Discussion

Pulmonary sequestration is defined by systemic arterial supply. The two subtypes include intra and extra-lobar.

Extralobar contains its own pleural and generally drains into systemic veins (IVC, azygos), while intralobar is closely related to normal lung parenchyma and drains into pulmonary veins.
