Presentation
Pediatric patient presenting with headache. The patient is afebrile and does not have any other neurologic or visual deficits.
Patient Data
Selected MRI sequences show a well-defined round mass centered within the trigone of the left lateral ventricle. The mass is isointense to gray matter on T1 and T2-weighted images, and exhibits homogeneous enhancement. Perilesional white matter edema and obstructive hydrocephalus are seen.
Case Discussion
Meningioma is the most common extra-axial neoplasm of adults and accounts for 15% of all intracranial neoplasms. It is second to gliomas in overall prevalence. Meningiomas are most frequently seen in convexity and parasagittal locations. In children, the most common site is the ventricles.
