Juvenile idiopathic arthritis - knee

Presentation

Left knee pain and swelling for 12 months.

Patient Data

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male

Left knee joint marked synovial hypertrophy and enhancement with mild effusion is noted mainly in the supra-patellar compartment.

Multiple enlarged popliteal lymph nodes are seen.

There is mild edema in the distal femoral condyles.

The tendons and ligaments are normal.

Case Discussion

Considering the patient's age, the features are more likely of juvenile idiopathic arthritis rather than infectious arthritis.
