Presentation

The patient complained of lower back pain after slipping and falling in the bathroom today at 10 am and hit buttocks. Local exam: spine- tenderness lower lumbar region, pain on movements.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

A lucency through the pars interarticularis of the L5 vertebral body is noted with grade 1 spondylolisthesis.

L5-S1inter vertebral space appears mildly narrowed.

Case Discussion

Meyerding classification system of spondylolisthesis is:

  • grade I: 0-25%

  • grade II: 26-50% 

  • grade III: 51-75% 

  • grade IV: 76-100%  

  • grade V (spondylolisthesis): >100%
