Presentation

Abdominal distension and discomfort

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

Abdominal radiography

x-ray

Frontal abdominal radiography shows a large, well-circumscribed oval opacity, occupying the mid and right side of the abdomen and pelvis.

An ultrasound exam has been performed and shows a large heterogeneous mass arising from the pelvis (no images available).

Pelvic MRI

MRI demonstrates a large mass arising from the broad ligament with abdominal extension.

It has a heterogeneous signal on T2WI hypointense on T1WI, with the presence of some hemorrhagic areas and heterogeneous enhancement following contrast.

There is no restriction of diffusion.

Other organs are normal. No lymphadenopathy.

Case Discussion

After surgical resection, the diagnosis was confirmed as a broad ligament leiomyoma.
