Lateral pontine syndrome

T1 hypointensity, T2/FLAIR hyperintensity and DWI diffusion restriction in the right lateral pons, indicating acute infarct (i.e. lateral pontine syndrome).
Case Discussion
During examination, the patient displayed left hemiparesis. MRI DWI revealed a small infarct in the right lateral pons, indicating a case of lateral pontine syndrome (Marie-Foix syndrome). This is one of the brainstem stroke syndromes, caused by occlusion of a branch of the basilar artery and anterior inferior cerebellar artery.
