Presentation

Swelling at the lower lumbar region since childhood.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female
mri

Posterior lumbosacral midline lipomatous mass, containing neural tissue and extending into the spinal canal through a closed spinal dysraphism with a lipoma-placode interface within the spinal canal. The filum terminale is attached to the intraspinal fatty component which is attenuated on fat sat sequences.

The conus medullaris terminates at T12 level.

No associated vertebral congenital abnormalities.
