Age: 40 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Avulsion fracture at the dorsal aspect of the base of the distal phalanx of the 5th finger with intraarticular (DIP) extension.

Case Discussion

A triangular avulsion fragment at the insertion site of the common extensor tendon on the dorsal aspect of the 5th finger distal phalanx with extension to distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint is compatible with mallet finger.
