Mature cystic ovarian teratoma

Presentation

3 days history of severe left pelvic pain.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Well-defined heterogeneously hypoechoic mass of the left ovary with no internal vascularity on color Doppler containing short and long echogenic lines probably due to the presence of hair "

Large well-defined left ovarian mass of intermediate to high signal on T1, high signal on T2, attenuated on T1 fat sat sequences, containing short and long lines of very high signal on T2 and T1 fat sat probably due to the presence of hair "dot-dash pattern (or dermoid mesh) seen on ultrasound. A thin peripheral rim of enhancement is noted on postcontrast sequences.

Normal appearance of the uterus and right ovary.

Case Discussion

The patient underwent complete surgical excision of the left ovarian mass with a histopathological exam that confirm the diagnosis of mature cystic teratoma.
