Presentation
Right knee pain with limited movement several months ago
Patient Data
MRI shows a horizontal tear of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus with an associated parameniscal cyst.
Case Discussion
This case demonstrated features of a medial meniscus tear with a parameniscal cyst. Parameniscal cysts are almost always associated with horizontal meniscal tears. MRI is an effective diagnostic method for detecting parameniscal cysts and underlying meniscal tears. A synovial cyst, baker cyst, ganglion cyst, bursitis, hematoma, and cystic neoplasms should be considered in the differential diagnosis of parameniscal cysts.
