Presentation
Pain in the medial aspect of the left knee.
Patient Data
complete radial tear of the posterior root of the medial meniscus with meniscal extrusion
there are loculated cystic lesions in the posteromedial and lateral aspects of the femoral condyles (at the insertion site of the gastrocnemius muscles) in keeping with insertional cysts
diffuse soft tissue edema and mild joint effusion
small posterior lymph node
the cruciate and collateral ligaments are unremarkable
medial tibial plateau edema with a small subchondral fracture
intraosseous ganglion cyst in the medial tibial plateau (it's not a geode, because it's located in the juxta-articular region)
Case Discussion
Features of a medial meniscus posterior root tear with associated medial tibial plateau subchondral fracture and meniscal extrusion. Incidental intra-osseous ganglion cyst and insertional cysts.
