Presentation
Young adult female presenting with shortness of breath. Recent weight loss was also reported.
Patient Data
The CXR shows a large mediastinal opacity. A unilateral right sided pleural effusion is also seen (seen in 50%) with compression atelectasis and air bronchograms.
Large confluent soft tissue mass with irregular borders at the superior and middle mediastinal compartments, with areas of internal low attenuation. None of the adjacent bronchovascular structures is grossly invaded by the mass.
The pleural effusion is seen here as well. There are alveolar infiltrates and areas of consolidation with air bronchograms in the right lung, mostly due to developing pneumonia.
Pericardial effusion is seen.
